Operation Fanacht patrols continue
Gardaí across Cavan-Monaghan in the run up to Christmas are carrying out checkpoints and engaging with the community to ensure compliance with Level Three Covid restrictions.
“This is an important period to maintain our discipline as we all look forward to the festive season,” a spokesperson for the local force said.
High visibility checkpoints are continuing, including in the Bailieboro District where two more vehicles were impounded and taken off the road recently.
In Cootehill, a van hadn't been taxed for almost two years.
The other incident involved a driver who had no driving licence or insurance.
The spokesperson added: “The Christmas and New Year Road Safety Campaign is also ongoing with members of Monaghan Roads Policing Unit taking part today in a multi-agency checkpoint - one driver was arrested for drug driving.”
