Peregrine falcon causes parishioners to miss Mass!
Over the last number of weeks, those wishing to watch Mass online via a live webcam link to Mullingar Cathedral, have encountered technical difficulties.
It has now emerged that a peregrine falcon, which has recently taken up residency atop its lofty spires, is the reason why parishioners have been experiencing issues.
A spokesperson for Mullingar Parish online said that it was the team at Churchmedia.tv that had discovered the "fowl play"!
"Our resident falcon had a taste for the cable carrying the signal to the router, chewing through the protecting plastic, and with the wires exposed, it caused the signal to denigrate and fail.
"Our thanks to the team at Church Media for their 'eagle eyes' in spotting the issue, and our apologies to parishioners who couldn't access Mass over the webcam these past few weeks.
"With this 'tern' of events we hope that you can 'egg-cess' the livestream more easily, but with this new technology, it can seem that we are living on a wing and a prayer!"
