Lidl's new green deal with Liffey Meats
The retail giant states that the new innovative packaging will use 75% less plastic, equating to savings of more than 70 tonnes of landfill material per year.
Lidl Ireland has announced it is partnering with with Ballyjamesduff meat processor, Liffey Meats, to become the first Irish retailer to launch FSC-Certified paper packaging for their premium beef range.
The retail giant states that the new innovative packaging will use 75% less plastic, equating to savings of more than 70 tonnes of landfill material per year.
The sustainable packaging innovation has been rolled out across two of Lidl's brand-new beef products initially, with the view to encompassing 10 further products in the retailer’s premium steak range early next year.
In partnership with, Liffey Meats, the retailer has unveiled the new and improved packaging made with FS-certified paper and using 75% less plastic which equates to a savings of more than 70 tonnes of plastic per year.
Only last April did Lidl Ireland and Liffey Meats announce that their exclusive partnership had secured exports to the value of €14 million, an increase of 20% on 2019 figures.
Commenting on the new and improved packaging deal, Owen Keogh, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility for Lidl Ireland, said: “Sustainability is at the core of our business, and we are always striving to be ahead of the curve when it comes to our packaging strategy.”
