Progress on school building works
The building work taking place at the Holy Family School, Cootehill is expected to be completed early in the new year. The latest information from the Department of Education states that the education facilities will be ready for use in Q1 of 2021.
The deadline came to light when Deputy Niamh Smyth received confirmation of the expected opening date in response to a Parliamentary Question.
Deputy Smyth said the announcement comes as a result of the dedicated efforts of all involved: “I am delighted to see good progress being made at the extension project in Cootehill. The Principal, Board of Management and wider school community have put much work into progressing this project to date.”
“This is a very welcome development. I will continue to work with both Minister for Education Norma Foley TD, her Officials and stakeholders locally to ensure this project progresses smoothly,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
Meanwhile approval by the Minister for Education, Norma Foley, for roof works at Drumcrave National School have been welcomed by Deputy Brendan Smith (FF).
Deputy Smith said: “These necessary improvement works will be funded under the Department’s Emergency Works Scheme.”
Deputy Smith also said that the news of funding for a PE Hall for Monaghan Collegiate School is another welcome announcement coming from the Department of Education: “This will be a welcome development enhancing considerably school facilities. I congratulate the School Principal and Management on submitting the successful application.”
Deputy Smith also commented that the new PE Hall for the Royal School, Cavan will considerably enhance the school's facilities.
Deputy Smith said: “I am glad to have supported the application and I compliment the Principal, Padraig Corley, and the Board of Management on their successful application. Cavan Monaghan ETB will deliver the project as they will with the recently sanctioned PE Hall for Monaghan Collegiate School.”
