Water fix in Shercock complete

The National Leakage Reduction Programme helps provide a more reliable water supply to Irish communities, reduce high levels of leakage and improve water quality.

Irish Water, working in partnership with Cavan County Council, has thanked residents along the Baileborough Road in Shercock for their cooperation and patience while old problematic water mains were being replaced.

The works involved replacing approximately 350 meters of old and damaged water mains and laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customer’s water supply.

The works were carried out on behalf of Irish Water by Farrans Construction Ltd.

Speaking about the project, Irish Water’s Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead Declan Cawley said: “Irish Water is committed to safeguarding the water supply for customers in Shercock and we are delighted to announce the timely completion of these works in advance of Cavan County Council’s roads overlay project. Irish Water would like to thank the residents in Shercock who were impacted by the works for their patience while we completed the job.”

The National Leakage Reduction Programme helps provide a more reliable water supply to Irish communities, reduce high levels of leakage and improve water quality. Its delivery means investment of over €500 million between 2017 and 2021 to reduce leakage and replace old pipes on the water network.
