St Clare's set to get new school
St Clare's National School in Cavan Town is set to benefit from a brand new 13-classroom school building, it has been announced today.
Approval has been given for the major new construction project by Minister for Education, Norma Foley.
With all the architectural planning phase complete the project is set to go out to tender in the coming weeks.
The news has been welcomed by the minister's party colleague, Deputy Brendan Smith.
“I welcome this approval by Minister Foley as I had highlighted to her the need to have this new school building project progressed as soon as possible," enthused the Cavan-Monaghan TD. “There has been a very large increase in enrolment in this school over recent years and this new permanent accommodation will be very welcome.”
Deputy Smith complimented the principal, Alma Leonard, her staff colleagues, the board of management, parents’ association and the wider school community on their work in bringing this project to this stage.
“I will continue to work with all involved to ensure that the project proceeds to construction as soon as possible,” assured Deputy Brendan Smith.
His colleague, Deputy Niamh Smyth, has also welcomed the news that the project is now progressing to 'Stage 3 Project' tender.
Thanking Minister Foley, Deputy Smyth also commended the school principal Alma Leonard, the Board of Management and the school community for their role in progressing the plans to detailed design stage.
“Once completed, this project will see the addition of 13 new classrooms at this school located in the heart of Cavan Town. Trojan work has been put into this project by the school principal and others. I will work with those involved and my party colleague Minister Foley to see that the next stages of this project progress swiftly,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
