Near miss for motorists as tree falls across Loreto Road

Motorists are being advised that the Loreto Road, Cavan Town, has re-opened after a fallen tree was cleared by the Fire Service.

A tree fell across the road this morning, blocking it to traffic.

Neighbours reported hearing a "large crack" and a few seconds later a "thud" when the tree toppled onto the roadway.

Thankfully, no motorists were passing at the time and no there were no accidents or injuries.

Members of the Cavan Fire Service have since cut the tree into logs, removing the obstacle.
