Met Éireann say high winds and thunderstorms are expected to continue as emergency ESB crews attend to faults across County Cavan.
Cavan was hit hard by last night's Storm Ellen. At present ESB networks are working on up to 12 identified power outages. A disruption in Errigal sees 181 customers are affected by this outage.
Storm Ellen has left thousands of people without power across the country with severe and destructive gusts also leading to fallen trees and flooding.
The Status Yellow wind warning remains in place for Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath, Cork, Kerry and Waterford. Met Éireann Weather Warning states that very strong south to southeast winds later today, veering southwesterly overnight with the potential for further impacts and a continued risk of coastal flooding.
Motorists in Cavan have been cautioned to drive with care and attention as debris on the roads can make conditions difficult and emergency road crew and fire officers are out dealing with fallen trees.
Weather today will be windy with bright spells and heavy showers, merging to give longer spells of rain at times, with thunderstorms and spot flooding. Maximum temperatures 16 to 19 degrees, in strong and gusty southerly winds, reaching gale force at times in coastal areas.
Tonight it will be windy with widespread showers and thunderstorms with a continued risk of flooding. Minimum temperatures 12 to 14 degrees, in fresh to strong southerly winds, up to gale force in coastal areas.
