WATCH: 'Blayney fire crew move into new station

Members of Monaghan Fire Service moved into their new fire station in Castleblayney in style this week.
A cavalcade of appliances arrived at the newly constructed station located at a site along the old N2 road on Tuesday evening last, August 4.

Monaghan County Council had prioritised a new fire station project in Castleblayney, and work on the state-of-the-art facility was completed in recent weeks.
Among the additions to the new station, which replaces the former station at The Commons in the North Co Monaghan town, is a training tower and on-site accommodation for serving members.
A new station in Ballybay was also included under the 2016 – 2020 Capital Programme.
Approval-in-principle issued in 2008 for a new fire station at Corrybrennan to a maximum cost of €1,000,000.
In April 2009, design and cost plans were received by the Department indicating a total cost of € 1.2 million.
The Council was recouped €17,000 for professional fees in 2012 and €100,000 site acquisition costs in 2016.
