Look who visited the new Killykeen resort complex!
The fromer Killykeen holiday complex, with 28 Scandi-style wooden chalets an equestrian centre and boathouse from Coillte was purchased back in 2017 at a price close to €750,000. Almost €4 million has been invested since in developing it as an exclusive getaway resort.
Cabü by the Lakes, the newly revamped holiday log cabin complex in Killykeen Forest Park opened its doors to the public earlier this week, when dozens flocked to soak in the surrounding overlooking picturesque Lough Oughter.
Close to fifty jobs have been created in opening the resort, which was redeveloped to the tune of close to €4 million by London-based entrepreneurs JP Ledwidge and Olivia Hutchinson.
The business couple purchased the near 74 acre complex, with 28 Scandi-style wooden chalets an equestrian centre and boathouse from Coillte back in 2017 at a price close to €750,000.
Their commitment to pumping life back into the beleaguered facilities, once a hugely popular vacation destination, includes the addition 20 of their own CABÜ modular cabins and a new new outdoor spa area, hot tub pods, sauna barrels and single storey treatment room building.
The former tennis court has meanwhile been replaced by an outdoor seating and lounge structure known as 'The Sitooterie'.
Among the first visitors to Cabü by the Lakes in its first week of opening was social media influencer and former Miss Universe Ireland winner Roz Purcell.
Along with photos, the Tipperary native posted online: 'Hiding away in the woods {wouldn’t be like me ?- for those of you who have just joined me over here , this is totally me!} I love using my platform to promote Ireland & all we have to offer on our 2020 staycations & this new hotel in Cavan is like nowhere else!'
She added: 'FairPlay @cabucabins exceptional stay to embrace nature & really relax. The bath in the woods, boats around the lakes {drone shots courtesy of @zachdesmond } beautiful private cabins that fit up to 4 people & cosy chill areas, pet friendly.
