Green Party leadership outcome to be announced
Monaghan-native Deputy Martin is challenging Deputy Ryan, who has been leader of the party which recently entered coalition with Fianna Fail and Fine Gael, since May 2011.
The Green Party leadership contest will reach its conclusion later this evening, with the result to be announced at 7pm.
Ballots were issued to a total of 2,336 Green Party members in the Republic of Ireland, and 598 Green Party members in Northern Ireland.
As of midday yesterday, more than two-thirds of the Green Party membership had voted.
Monaghan-native Deputy Martin is challenging Deputy Ryan, who has been leader of the party which recently entered coalition with Fianna Fail and Fine Gael, since May 2011.
A TD for the Dublin Rathdown constituency since 2016, Ms Martin has served as Deputy Leader of the Green Party since June 2011, and was recently appointed to the role of Minister for Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht.
Deputy Ryan is serving Minister for Climate Action, Communications Networks and Transport.
The result will be broadcast to members via a specially provided link, which will be introduced by the Green Party's National Coordinator and chair of the leadership hustings Bláithín Gallagher.
The announcement of the vote will be made by the returning officers Meabh Cody and Harry McEvansoneya.
This will be followed by statements from the two leadership candidates, Ministers Ryan and Martin.
