Power cut hits water supply
Disruptions to water supplies across Cavan should be addressed by this evening. The water supply in the Cuilcagh area of Cavan was impacted by an overnight power failure. Irish Water and Cavan County Council issued a statement regarding the matter.
In it they said: “Customers in the Cuilcagh, Crossbane and Mullagh areas of Cavan, had their water supply impacted as a result of a power failure that occurred during the night. The power failure means that the water supply to these areas is now shut down.”
The ESB is working to restore power and it's hoped water supplies to Cuilcagh, Crossbane and Mullagh areas will be restored this evening with some areas building pressure overnight.
The statement continued: “Irish Water understands the inconvenience when water supply is interrupted and thanks customers for their patience while we work to restore normal supply to impacted customers as quickly and as safely as possible. Our customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates please see the water supply and services section of our website.”
They concluded by saying: “Irish Water is working at this time with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services. Irish Water would like to remind people to follow the HSE COVID-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.”
