Monaghan Primary Care Centre gets planning
Planning permission has been granted for a new multi-million euro North Monaghan Primary Care Centre.
The planning section of Monaghan County Council have given the go-ahead for the estimated €5 million development, to be located on the grounds of St Davnets in Monaghan Town.
The residential care centre is one of three integrated projects the HSE have been working hard to deliver on the Rooskey site.
The project includes the major refurbishment of the old Blackwater House unit and its eventual transformation into a new Primary Care Centre, complete with space for two GP practices, a Dental Treatment Facility, HSE Treatment and Therapy facilities, consultation rooms, administration facilities and other associated works.
Modifications will also be made to the external areas to provide 162 car parking spaces (62 additional), with upgrades also to external lighting and the enhancement of the original landscaped area.
It had previously been envisaged the primary care centre would be built on the site of Monaghan Hospital, but those plans were later scrapped.
The development is to be co-located also with a new Community Residential Nursing Unit, which has a minimum of 20 beds.
Blackwater House is recorded on Monaghan's Record of Protected Structures, but the plans look to demolish two small extensions on the north side of the property.
