Customers without water in parts of Cavan Town
Irish Water and Cavan County Council advise that customers in parts of Cavan town will experience water outages following a burst water main on Farnham Road.
Properties from McCarren's factory to the hospital on the left hand side of the road as you exit the town will be impacted by water outages until the repairs are completed. The hospital will not be impacted by this water outage.
In a joint statement released this evening, Irish Water and Cavan County Council say: 'An alternative water supply will be provided at the apartment complex on Farnham Road tomorrow (Tuesday), April 27, from 9am. Customers are advised that as a precautionary measure water from the alternative supply should be boiled before use. Customers are also asked to adhere to social distancing guidelines when taking water from the alternative supply.'
It is expected that the repairs will be completed tomorrow evening.
The statement further advises: 'Once the repairs are successfully completed, normal water supply will begin to be restored. Full water supply may take one to two hours to return as water refills the network.'
Both Irish Water and Cavan County Council have apologised to the customers affected by the outage.
'Irish Water understands the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to repair the burst and restore normal supply to impacted customers. Our customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries.
