WEATHER: Wrap up and don't forget your brolly

After a freezing night, today gets off to a dry cold start with frost clearing. Clouding over from the south with rain following. The rain will be mostly light though, assure Met Éireann. It will become largely dry and clear towards evening everywhere. Highest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in light variable winds.

Tonight is set to be cold again, becoming dry in many areas as the last of the rain and sleet clears from eastern areas early in the night, there will be scattered wintry showers in western areas overnight. Overnight lows of -2 to +1 degrees Celsius with frost and icy stretches.

Nationally it is to stay cold and wintry at times through the next few days, but milder for the weekend.
