€15.1M road budget announced for Cavan for 2020
A week into the General Election campaign and the government has announced details of the road budget for counties Cavan and Monaghan in 2020.
Dunancorry Bridge is the only major Cavan project named in the 2020 roads budget. Two Cavan and Monaghan roads infrastructure projects are to benefit as part of a €525 million spend announced for regional and local roads, however Virginia bypass is a noticeable absence from the list.
Welcoming the allocations from the Department of Transport, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, described it as a “major increase” in the local and regional roads budget for counties Cavan and Monaghan.
Cavan has been allocated €15.1M, up from €12.9M last year and €10.7M in 2018 – an increase of over 40% in two years.
Monaghan, meanwhile, has been awarded €14.5M, an increase of around 60% on 2018 funding levels.
