CMETB to host region’s largest careers event

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) is set to host the region’s largest careers event for school leavers in the Cavan and Monaghan area.
The free event will take place at the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan, on Thursday, November 14, from 10am-1.30pm.
Over 1,500 young people from local post-primary schools are expected to attend to preview the multitude of career paths available to them. This event promises to be an informative event for school leavers and will demonstrate the wide-ranging opportunities open to the young people of Cavan and Monaghan.
CMETB is expecting up to 50 stands comprising universities, institutes of technology, many further education colleges, teacher training and other third level colleges. Some of exhibitors are to include Maynooth University, University College Dublin, Dublin City University, Dundalk Institute of Technology as well as universities from Northern Ireland and England. The abundance of local opportunities at Cavan Institute and Monaghan Institute will also be represented at the event including a variety of apprenticeship and traineeship options.
Other exhibitors will include professional support bodies and financial advice services.
For those students who are trying to decide what route their future career should take, this event will prove most useful, helping students to bridge the gap between what they enjoy doing and what they could potentially do as a career. CMETB anticipate the event will make a significant contribution to the career investigation and career options of young people within the region.
The event is open to all senior students in post-primary schools.
