This fastfood has pizza the county's heart
Fastfood lovers in Cavan have voted with their fingertips, with the county's favourite takeaway option found as a result of the numbers crunched on a new interactive mapping tool.
Launched by online ordering service, Just Eat, Pizza took the crust as the most popular go-to takeaway choice for carb-craving hungry locals.
In fact Pizza orders proved a slice of happiness at the top spot in 16 other regions also.
With pizza coming out on top, what remained of the rest of the list of particular favourites may provide a bone of contention for some.
The site's new fast food map of Ireland shows Indian food is the second most popular in Cavan, followed by Chinese, then 'American', and last but not least, the humble fish and chips.
The data was compiled by reviewing the number of orders placed for each type of takeaway in each county.
By comparison, Kebab ranked top with our neighbours in Monaghan, and while we may share the same love or curries at the number two spot, their three was Italian, followed by Chicken. Fish and chips again appeared in fifth place.
Elsewhere: Longford, according to Just Eat's survey was 1. Pizza, 2. Indian, 3. Kebab. 4. Turkish.
In Leitrim it was 1. Indian, 2. Pizza, 3. kebab, 4. fish and chips, with Chinese at number one in Meath, 2. Pizza, 3. fish and chips, 4. Indian, 5. Kebab.
Figures from Euromonitor International published last year estimates that Ireland forks out more than €260 per head of population on takeaways each year — up almost 20% since 2012.
The report showed that Ireland is number 11 in the world for splashing out on fast food.
