New Posts for Childrens’ Services

The HSE have confirmed that the Cavan/Monaghan Child Development Team has been allocated two additional posts to specifically address current Assessment of Need waiting lists for Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.

Both Therapists recently commenced employment and that Assessment of Need assessments will commence early this month.

Speaking on the announcement Deputy Brendan Smith said that he has also been also informed that Enable Ireland, which deals with children up to six years, have recently been allocated two additional posts for Occupational Therapy and Psychology.

“The HSE state that staff will be in these posts by the year end at the latest and this will help to improve service provision,” Deputy Smith told The Anglo-Celt.

Deputy Smith said the announcements “are a very welcome developments” and more resources are needed to ensure much more timely provision of assessments and follow-up therapy or treatment in needed.
