Food and a flair for fashion

With food and how it's presented increasingly considered an art form, it's fitting that the Taste of Cavan (ToC) would rework the canvas for the annual festival by adding extra events in 2019.
Along with the now usual 130 plus artisan food, drink and craft stalls, wealth of exhibitors, fun family entertainment and demonstrations, this year's ToC at the Cavan Equestrian Centre, Friday-Saturday, August 9-10, will include a Wellness Village and fashion show.
Capturing the uptake in interest in keeping fit, the Wellness Village will host over 20 exhibitors offering help and information on nutrition, good mental health, as well as yoga for kids!
The fashion show on Saturday evening, meanwhile, will showcase the latest styles and trends from boutiques from across the region.
Director of Services Brendan Jennings addressed the recent monthly meeting of members elected to Cavan County Council. He's encouraging people to attend and also take part in the volunteer effort, which he said lends itself to ToC being recognised as one of the Top 10 food festivals in the country.
Meanwhile, the Restaurants Association of Ireland last week announce the finalists for Foodie Destinations 2019, with Cavan listed among the forerunners.
Foodie Destinations is an initiative run by the Restaurants Association of Ireland, that aims to find the ultimate foodie destination in Ireland.
Also listed are Monaghan and Glaslough.
