Revving it up in Cootehill
Today (Sunday), July 21, sees the return of the Poker Run in aid of Cootehill Cancer Care and Cu Chulainn Blood Bikes (CCBB).
This is the second year of the event. Kevin Tiernan is one of the organisers of the Poker Run: “Last year we successfully raised €5,000 and we hope we raise just as much this year.”
Classic cars and vintage motorbikes will be in abundance in the town of Cootehill for this hugely popular fundraiser. Registration commences at 10.30am and runs to 12pm in Tír na nÓg, Cootehill.
Kevin explained the format for the day: “As usual there are five checkpoints. Participants pick up a card at each point. There will be stewards at each point all day so you can go in your own groups at your own speed and take as long as you wish.
“If you would like to come along and bring your vintage motorcycle or car, feel free. Everybody is welcome to see the show and please donate to these worthy causes.”
The run concludes in Tullyvin Tavern at 5pm, where there will be food, music by the Crooked Bones and plenty of craic. There will be €500 in cash prizes to be won on the night.
All monies raised on the day go to Cootehill Cancer Care and Cú Chulainn Blood Bikes.
