Diocesan changes announced for Kilmore
A full breakdown of the changes for the Diocese of Kilmore in 2019 has been finalised and announced by Monsignor Liam Kelly, Diocesan Administrator.
It is the first task of its type overseen by Mons Kelly since being elected to take over the running of the Diocese from the now retired Bishop of Kilmore, Leo O'Reilly in January earlier this year.
All changes take effect from the end of next month, August 31.
It is the first set of changes to be announced since September last year.
In the absence of Mons Kelly as Diocesan Administrator and as C.C. at Kilsherdany-Drung, Fr Yusuf Bamai is set to take on additional duties as Administrator in the parish.
Fr Thomas Keogan, Administrator Kinlough-Glenade, is set to retire, and he will be replaced by Fr John Phair, P.P. Corlough-Templeport.
Fr Seán Maguire, C.C. Glencar will be moved in the departing Fr Phair's place as P.P. in Corlough-Templeport, with Fr Samuel Kure to become C.C. in Glencar.
Fr Denis Murray, P.P. Carrigallen is to retire and be resident priest in Derrylin, with Fr Ultan McGoohan, Director of Pastoral Services and C.C. Teemore, to be P.P. in Bailieborough.
He will replace Fr Michael Router, who in March of this year was appointed to serve as the new Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Armagh.
The move, which assigns him to the Titular See of Lugmad, was made by Pope Francis.
Fr John McMahon, P.P. Knockbride, is being transferred to act as P.P. in Carrigallen, and to be replaced by Fr Anthony Fagan, P.P. Dromahaire-Killargue.
Fr Paul Casey, C.C. Belturbet, will in turn move to be P.P. in Dromahaire-Killargue, with Fr Joseph Long moving from Killeshandra, to be C.C. in Belturbet, and Fr Charlie O’Gorman, C.C. Cavan, to be P.P. in Killeshandra.
Fr Martin Gilcreest, C.C. Shercock, will become C.C. in Cavan, with Fr Rafal Siwek, who had taken Sabbatical leave, to return to the Diocese to served as C.C. in Shercock as well as Chaplain to Immigrant Communities.
With Fr Callistus Isara, C.C. Munterconnaught set to to return to Nigeria, Fr Antony Kidarathil has been appointed C.C. in Munterconnaught, and will also pursue post graduate studies.
Other changes include Fr Patrick Farrelly, P.P. Ballaghameehan, to retire and be resident priest in Lavey; and Fr John Sexton, Chaplain St Clare’s Comprehensive School to also be Administrator in Ballaghameehan.
