Warm weather on the way

Although Cavan may be basking in the sun by the end of the week there looks to be a lot of unsettled weather between now and then.

Although temperatures are set to rise as the week progresses Met Éireann have issued a warning about risks of heavy thundery downpours, especially over Munster and Leinster, which may lead to spot flooding.

Sunny spells will increase this afternoon but there will be showers, some prolonged, heavy and thundery, especially in the east. Warm and humid with highs of 18 to 20 degrees in light breezes.

The last of any showers will die out early tonight after which it will be mainly dry with variable cloud. Lows of 10 to 13 degrees. Mist and fog patches will form.

Tuesday will start out cloudy with some mist and fog patches but it will brighten up with good sunny spells developing. A risk of a few showers in the afternoon. Highs of 17 to 20 degrees in light to moderate northeast breezes, fresher on the west coast.

Wednesday is predicted to be a warm day with good sunshine and just the odd shower. Highest temperatures of 19 to 24 degrees generally, a bit cooler in the north and northwest due to moderate northerly breezes. Dry on Wednesday night with lowest temperatures of 9 to 14 degrees.
By Thursday warm and sunny will be enjoyed by most of the country with highs of 20 to 27 degrees. It will stay dry generally but some rain may clip the southwest coast. A humid night will follow with temperatures not lower than 14 to 17 degrees.
Friday will bring little change, a warm day with highs of 20 to 26 degrees. Just the odd shower again. It will feel close on Friday night with lowest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees.
The weekend should be much fresher weather on Saturday and this may come with a spell of heavy and thundery rain. Sunday will be a cooler day nationwide.
