Parents warned after 'attempted' school abduction

 

 

Investigations are ongoing after an “attempted abduction” of a child outside a school in Ballyjamesduff earlier this week.

The incident is understood to have occurred as students form Saint Clare’s National School on the Virginia Road prepared finish for the day and go home last Wednesday, January 30, at around 3pm.

As a result, parents of children at the school have been warned, and urged to “be vigilant”.

School Principal Karl McCartin wrote to parents and guardians informing them an alleged “attempted abduction” had been reported to local gardaí

“The incident is currently being investigated by gardaí,” he assured, adding: “We urge parents to be vigilant and ensure their child is collected safely from school.”

Gardaí are investigating a report of a suspicious approach that allegedly occurred on 30/1/19 at approximately 3pm in the Virginia Road area of Ballyjamesduff.”

Enquiries, the Garda Press Office add, are ongoing.
