Status yellow weather warning for Cavan as snow and ice to hit

A nationwide status yellow weather warning has been issued by Met Éireann today with up to 2cms of snow predicted in some parts, writes Michelle Taite.
Icy and slippery conditions are expected due to ice and snow on untreated surfaces.
The warning is in place for 9pm tonight (Monday) to 7pm tomorrow evening (Tuesday).
Scattered sleet and snow showers most frequent across Ulster and Connacht will occur but some showers penetrating into central and eastern areas at times with the odd flurry further south. Accumulations generally of one to two centimetres are expected. Wintry showers will become confined to northern areas by late evening.
Temperatures are set to improve Wednesday to Friday with light rain expected.
The weekend is set to get cold again with Met Éireann saying 'Current indications suggest it will becoming colder again this coming weekend, but still some uncertainty as to the exact detail as of yet.'
