Seven burglaries reported in past week

Cash, jewellery, tools and garden ornaments were stolen during burglaries at houses and business across the region in incidents reported to gardai over the past week.

In the west of the county, three burglaries were reported in the Blacklion area, on October 22 where an unlocked shed had a lawnmower and tricycle taken; at Tuam, Blacklion, between October 22-26, where two chainsaws, and impact driver and a copper cylinder were stolen; and at the Dugout Bar on October 29.
In respect of the Dugout break-in, raiders gained entry via the roof, before making off with a quantity of cash.
Cash and jewellery were taken from a house in Kilconny, Belturbet on October 27, the incident occurring between 6.30-10.30pm; while a homeowner returned to her house at Marian Park in Belturbet on October 22 to find her garden ornaments had been stolen.
In the Drumalee area meanwhile there was an attempt to gain entry to a house in the Ashgrove Estate, at around 1.30am on October 24 last; with a further attempted break-in occurring at Supervalu on the Cootehill Road at Drumalee on October 29.
Gardaí are said to be following a definite line of enquiry after a break-in at the 5th Avenue Bar on Main Street, Cavan on October 24 last, during which a quantity of spirits were taken.

Drugs
In the latest raid crackdown by gardaí tackling drug dealing in the region, members of the divisional drugs unit assisted by local members of An Garda Siochana searched a house in the Derrycramph area.
As a result of the raid, which was carried out on October 22 last, a quantity of Xanax tablets were seized, with an estimated street value of €3,500.
One man was arrested and a file on the matter has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
In five other separate raids and stop and searches, cannabis and tablets were also seized.
