Mountnugent GFC Cycle fundraiser

The Mountnugent Gaelic Football Club are staging a fundraising cycle from Dublin to Mountnugent tomorrow (Saturday), August 4, when 30 men and women will participate.
They will leave the Oliver Plunkett GAA Gounds on the Navan Road at 10am on Saturday morning and then set out on the 97 kilometre trip for Mountnugent. The cyclists have sponsorship cards in circulation and your can make whatever donation you deem appropriate. The funds raised are designed to help with ongoing development works at the Mountnugent GAA Grounds, which have already seen a running track and other ancilliary facilities put in place. In the region of €130,000 has already been expended and now plans are afoot to put a second playing pitch in place and additional dressing room facilities. There will be a bucket collection en route from Dublin and the money raised will go to ARC Cancer Support in Eccles Street in Dublin.
The secretary of the club John Duffy said the participants in the cycle have been in training for the past six weeks and many of them had not been on a bike for decades. Now as part of their dedication to the cause in hand, they all completed a training run of no less than 60km last week and have been building steadily over the weeks. They are enjoying their new level of fitness and intend to keep up their cycling activities, after this event is over.
So ensure that you make a donation to the riders from Mountnugent and they take on this great cycling challenge all the way from Dublin back to the pitch in the village for refreshments.
The chairman of the club is Michael Caffrey and the treasurer is Peter Boylan, who together with the joint PRO Keith Greene are leading the charge in the cycle. The other joint PRO is Oliver Reilly.
