Mullagh wheelchair user's appeal over roads
A Mullagh man, battling Motor Neurone Disease (MND) has called on Cavan County Council to fix his local road so he can maintain his independence.
Using his motorised Andrew Brennan is forced to turn back just hundreds of yards from his front-gate due to the deterioration of the road suface.
The matter was raised recently with Minister for Transport Shane Ross by Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan Niamh Smyth, who has called on the Government to intervene to allocate additional funds for essential upgrades.
Deputy Smyth commented: “For months, I have been raising the issue of roads funding with Minister Shane Ross, and every time I receive the same standard response from his office. It states that “works on those roads are funded from the Council’s own resources supplemented by State road grants”.
