Gardaí upgrade Bell investigation to murder
Gardaí have said the probe into the death of Seamus Bell who died last Saturday [June 2] evening is now a murder investigation.
Mr Bell had been in a coma in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda following an assault that occurred on January 20, 2018 at Main Street, Carrickmacross, Monaghan. Gardaí are now investigating a murder after receiving the post mortem examination results which was carried out by Professor Marie Cassidy this afternoon.
Mr Bell was allegedly attacked on the street in front of his partner’s parents outside Carrickmacross Garda Station as the couple were celebrating the christening of their twin daughters.
Gardaí previously arrested Carrickmacross man Vytautas Racys (34) the day after the attack. He is currently in Cloverhill Prison charged with an offence under the Non Fatal Offences Against The Person Act.
