Minister English visits €2.5m Cavan housing developments

The Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Damien English, last week visited two new Cavan County Council social housing developments.
The eight homes at Woodlands, Ballyhaise, and four homes at Kilnaglare, Butlersbridge, are the subject of a €2.46 million investment by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, delivered by Cavan County Council.
The Minister officially opened the four three-bed terraced development at Butlersbridge last Friday, constructed at a cost of €623,236.
He also visited Woodlands, Ballyhaise, where construction of four three-bed semi-detached houses, and four two-bed semi-detached houses, is progressing at a cost of €1,839,544. Construction on the units commenced in October 2017, and are expected to be completed by Q4 2018.
Both high-quality housing developments are being constructed by Crosserlough Construction.
Wishing all future new tenants “the very best” in their new homes, Minister English said: “I am pleased to be in Cavan today to see the progress being made by Cavan County Council under their social housing programme. I'm delighted to officially open these four units at Butlersbridge, and I note they were built by a local company which is also good news. In addition, I was pleased to earlier visit the site at Woodlands, Ballyhaise where another eight units are under construction and should be delivered before the end of the year.”
During his visit, Minister English also met with Cavan County Council officials to discuss future housing provision in County Cavan. He was joined by Cathaoirleach Cllr Paddy McDonald, who welcomed the Government’s much-needed investment in social housing in Co Cavan. “I am delighted to see that these housing units have been completed to such a high standard. I’m sure the new tenants will be very happy here.
“I was also pleased to hear that the Minister had a fruitful discussion with housing officials in Cavan County Council this afternoon. I look forward to continued Government investment in housing provision in County Cavan in the coming months and years,” he added.
