Gardaí investigate latest spate of crimes
Gardaí across the county are investigating a number of crimes committed over the past week including a number of burglaries and break-ins and an alleged sexual assault. They are appealing for information in relation to the incidents.
Gardaí investigate burglary and alleged sexual assault
Gardaí in Cavan are investigating a burglary and alleged sexual assault at a house in Cavan last week.
A man, aged in his late 20s, appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice at the weekend, Sunday, April 7, charged in relation to the alleged incident, which occurred in Ballyjamesduff in the early hours of Friday morning, April 6.
Gardaí responded to the incident at around approximately 5am following reports that a male had broken into a house and sexually assaulting the female occupant.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochána informed The Anglo-Celt that Gardaí in Ballyjamesduff are managing the investigation.
They added that a file is currently being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on the matter, and that “investigations are ongoing”.
Gardai investigate burglaries
Gardaí in Cavan are investigating two burglaries reported over the past week.
A holiday home in the Gubaveeny areas outside of Blacklion was broken into, with the owners reporting that the incident occurred sometime over the past three months,
Several tools were taken during the break-in at the property and gardaí are appealing to the public in the run up to the summer months to continue to remain vigilant and secure gardening equipment out of sight.
Meanwhile, a male suspect is wanted in connection with a break-in at an apartment in the Clare's Court complex in Cavan Town, after a sum of cash went missing on April 10 last.
Finally, in an act of suspected criminal damage, a window to a premises on Abbey Street was smashed during the early hours of April 15 last.

Thefts and criminal damage investigated
Gardaí are warning members of the public to secure personal items following a series of thefts in recent weeks.
A passenger window was broken and a handbag taken from a vehicle parked in the rearcar park of Doobally Church, near Dowra, the incident understood to have occurred between 1-5pm on April 15 last.
A mobile phone, meanwhile, was stolen from the Cavan Leisure and Swimming Complex on April 12 last.
It furthermore follows the theft of a camera from St Patrick's Church in Milltown, which went missing on March 31 last.

Drug clampdown continues
Gardaí in the Cavan Town area have stopped persons and completed a number of drug seizures as the clampdown on illicit substance use continues.
Gardaí recovering small qualities of cannabis, following on the street 'stop and searches', at Blackwood Avenue, Railway Road and Creighan at the weekend.
It follows the seizure of a small quantity of heroin from a person on April 8 last, and two further seizures of cannabis on April 4.
