Almost 750 waiting on driving test in Cavan

There are 743 people in County Cavan currently waiting on their driving test, compared to 412 in neighbouring Co Monaghan.

The figures, which are correct as of March 26, were supplied to Fianna Fáil Deputy Niamh Smyth by the CEO of the Road Safety Authority (RSA), Moyagh Murdock.

Deputy Smyth had raised the issue in the Dáil last month by way of Parliamentary Question. The Minister for Transport Shane Ross, responding, said it was an issue for the RSA and said he had referred her query regarding waiting times for the driving test in Cavan to them directly for response.

The Fianna Fáil deputy has been highlighting the need to reduce waiting times for the test in this constituency as it is having an effect on applicant's insurance premiums among other issues.
