Cavan to be colder than Iceland as 'Beast from the East' to strike

Ireland is set to be even colder than Iceland this weekend and into next week as Scandinavian weather conditions are promised.
The latest weather forecast from Met Éireann is predicting that we're in for a bitterly cold weekend with frosty nights and cold days.
The so-called 'Beast from the East' will bring biting winds from the east causing temperatures to plummet to as low as -3C. The national weather forecaster has said it will bring with it severe frosts and wintry showers.
Met Eireann have said: "It will be very cold on Monday night with a severe frost and the risk of wintry showers along northern and eastern coasts in moderate northeasterly winds.
"It will turn progressively colder from Tuesday onwards with wintry showers becoming more widespread in moderate to fresh northeasterly winds.
"By Thursday it is likely that it will be become exceptionally cold and day time temperatures may hover just around freezing or even below freezing in some places with widespread severe frost at night".
