Cavan Rainbow Youth host first LGBT+ Youth Conference
Cavan Rainbow Youth hosted the group's first LGBT+ Youth Conference today.
More than 200 people packed out the venue at Cavan Institute after lunchtime to hear from, among others social media influencer James Kavanagh, and Sinn Fein Senator Fintan Warfield.
Both members of the LGBT+ community and vocal on issues of equality in Ireland, the conference was centred around the launch of LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) youth service in Cavan, aimed at supporting and empowering young members of the LGBT+ community locally.
The strategy was developed in part by Tusla, Cavan Children & Young People's Services Committee (CCYPSC) and under the guidance of LGBT+ Youth Development Worker for Cavan, Samantha King.
Several educational workshops on LGBT+ awareness aimed at young people, parents, carers and professionals working with young people also took place.
