Garda arrest over supermarket break-ins
A person is to appear before the sitting of Cavan District Court later this morning charged with the the break-in at a local shop and filling station in Cavan Town was targeted twice in as many days.
The first of the burglaries occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning last, January 21, at Finnegan's Filling Station and Costcutters store on Railway Road.
Its understood that during the break-in the burglar made off with quantity of alcohol and cigarettes are understood to have been taken.
The second break-in occurred on Monday night last, January 22, when a door to the premises was also smashed during the process.
The arrest was made on Wednesday evening, with gardai understood to have been assisted their investigations by CCTV from the vicinity in making a positive identification.
Gardai are still appealing to members of the public who had been in the vicinity of Railway Road and may have witnessed suspicious activity to contact them on 049 43 68800.
