Murder accused will return before courts in February
A man accused of stabbing his friend following a New Year's eve disagreement will return before the court at the start of February.
Tomasz Paszkiewicz (38) of 4 Dublin Street, Ballyjamesduff, was represented in proceedings by solicitor Brid Mimnagh. The solicitor said that her client was consenting to the three-week adjournment of the case.
The defendant is charged with the murder of Marek Swider at Dublin Street, Ballyjamesduff, contrary to Common Law on January 1, 2018.
Gardaí investigating the murder arrested Mr Paszkiewicz in Cork City Centre earlier this month. Mr Paszkiewicz appeared before judge Denis McLoughlin at the sitting of a Cavan District Court sitting charged with the murder.
Marek Swider (40), a Polish national resident in Ballyjamesduff, died on January 1, 2018, resulting from injuries sustained following an incident at a house on Dublin Street on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2017.
Judge McLoughlin remanded the defendant in custody in Castlerea prison to appear before Harristown District Court on February 2.
