Man due in court over New Year murder

 

A man is due to appear before a Cavan Court sitting this morning charged with the in relation to the murder of a man in the Ballyjamesduff area over the New Year period.

Polish-national Marek Swider (40) died on January 1 2018, resulting from injuries sustained following an incident at Dublin Street in the South-East Cavan town on New Years Eve, December 31 2017.

Gardaí investigating the murder arrested a 38-year-old man in in Cork City centre yesterday, early on Thursday morning January 4, and taken to be detained at Baileborough Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He is now due to appear before a sitting of Cavan District Court later this morning.
