**UPDATE** Water restored to all parts of the town

Water has been restored to all parts of Cavan Town, but repairs are ongoing and not expected to be completed until later this evening.

Working in partnership with Cavan County Council, Irish Water located the leak which caused water outages in Cavan Town for much of the early part of the day.

Its understood that due to the isolated nature of the issue, there has been some difficulty in accessing the site of the leak.

“There are two reservoirs supplying the town. While one has emptied as a result of this leak, the second is currently being used to supply the whole town. Some customers may experience a reduction in pressure as a result. Full pressure will be restored once repairs are finished and the network has been recharged,” a spokesperson for Irish Water told The Anglo-Celt this afternoon.

The areas affected by the outage include much of Cavan Town and its environs, including Carrickfern, Dublin Road, Drumgola, Ballyhaise Road, Kilnavara, Butlersbridge, Killygarry and Drumalee.

“Irish Water and Cavan County Council would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused and thank them for their patience while repairs are ongoing,” the spokesperson added.
