Colour run at Cavan Institute for good causes
Students from Cavan Institute will host a Colour Run at noon today in aid of the Irish Cancer Society and Pieta House.
The fundraiser is being organised by the second year students from the Sports Development and Coaching and second years on the Sports Therapy course.
In addition to raising money for good causes - the process of organising and hosting the run is part of a major assignment for the students.
They are being challenged to see how many participants they can attract at short notice and will be marked on a range of elements of the task including organisation, promotion, participation and funds generated.
One of the students involved, Melanie Moran Flood, is urging everybody to get involved. "Take and early lunch break, get your running shoes on and drop down to the college carpark as the run starts at noon sharp. It's all in aid of good causes and it will do your health good."
The route of the run will go from the Institute carpark, down towards the Cathedral, turning left towards Drumalee, past SuperValu and the Orchard, turning left and back to the Institute. The run will involved two loops of the circuit and is just shy of 5km.
"If you can't do the run, look out for the students with the collection buckets and please give generously," urged Melanie.
