Cars, tools and turtles stolen

It seems that some of the criminals hitting the Cavan region in recent times are unusual pet lovers, following the theft of two turtles and two bags of stones from a pet shop at the Virginia Shopping Centre last week.

A Garda spokesman told The Anglo-Celt that the Gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry in the matter. The crime took place at 5pm on Wednesday evening, October 18, and two individuals are believed to have been involved.
Meanwhile, a lap-top, cash and a car were stolen in the Millstream area of Mullagh between 11pm on Friday night, October 20 and 9.30am, Saturday October 21. A door was damaged in the course of the burglary.
The next burglary took place at Tunnyconnolly, Poles, between 9.30pm on Friday, October 20 and 9.30pm on Saturday, October 21. The tools stolen include a chop saw, Stihl chainsaw, another chainsaw, a strimmer and hedge trimmer.
The thieves then hit the Corfeehone area of Stradone and made off with an angle grinder and welder between 11.15pm on Friday, October 20 and 1.15am on the Saturday morning. A latch on a door was bent during the burglary.
 

Unlicensed shotgun

Also, on October 19, members of the Divisional Drugs Unit based at Cootehill searched a premises in the Canningstown area and recovered cannabis to the value of approximately €500 and an unlicensed shotgun. Gardaí are investigating.
