A child, believed to be around three years of age is recovering in Cavan General Hospital, after being knocked down in Cavan Town centre today.
The child came in contact with a moving vehicle at Connolly Street Cavan at 11.15am.
A Garda spokesperson told The Anglo-Celt that following scans the hospital confirmed that the child had not sustained any serious injuries.
The gardaí sealed off the road at Connolly Street for a duration, until clarification came back from the hospital about the condition of the child. The spokesperson added that once the medical tests confirmed that the child was out of danger, the cordon across the road was lifted.
The Garda spokesperson said they are fully investigating the incident and looking for any persons who may have witnessed the accident to come forward with that information to the Gardai at Cavan Garda Station.
