'We will be back'- Rubini cafe owner after fire
'It's heartbreaking, it really is,' says Gary Smith, co-owner of Rubini's cafe and restaurant on Main Street, Cavan Town, which was damaged by fire earlier this morning (Tuesday).
Three fire brigade units were called, from Cavan and Belturbet, to assist in quelling the blaze, which broke out at at the Main Street premises shortly before 9am.
An ambulance unit was also called to the scene, but there are no reports of anyone being injured as a result of the incident. Main Street was closed to traffic for a period as emergency service managed the scene.
Opened last December by Mr Smith from Redhills and Ryan Maher from Swanlinbar, there has been an outpouring of support for the pair and their fledging bistro business since news of the fire broke.
'It's obviously very upsetting, you put so much work into something and you never expect something like this to happened. We're very thankful for all the support people have given us, the phone hasn't stopped ringing.
“But we will be back. It'll take some work getting it back up and running, but we're not going to let this stop us. We will be back,' Mr Smith assured.
