Three arrests after €2.8m cannabis haul seized
Three people have been arrested after herbal cannabis worth an estimated €2.8 million was seized in Cavan yesterday (Friday, December 16).
An Intelligence led Joint Operation was conducted in County Cavan involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue’s Customs Service. The focus of the Operation was to target individuals involved in drug trafficking and the sale and supply of illicit drugs. As a result of this operation, approximately 143kg of herbal cannabis (subject to analysis) was seized. This material has an estimated value of €2.8 million.
Arrests
A 36 year old man and a 50 year old woman were arrested and are currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking ) Act 2006 at Ballyconnell Garda Station. In a follow up Operation a 46 year old man was also arrested and is being detained in Cavan Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 2006 in relation to the same offence.
