Visiting restricted on all wards in Cavan General Hospital
Visiting restrictions are in place at Cavan General Hospital following the outbreak of a vomiting and diarrhoea bug.
The HSE has issued the following statement: 'Cavan General Hospital is experiencing an increase in patients presenting with vomiting and diarrhoea from the community and has confirmed cases of norovirus. In the interest of patient care visiting is restricted on all wards. Children under 12 are not permitted on wards (Only exceptions are children visiting parents). The restrictions will be in place until further notice.
'While the Out Patient Departments and Emergency Department are not affected, patients are asked to refrain from attending hospital if they have been affected by vomiting and/or diarrhoea in the last 48 hours. Anyone who is suffering from vomiting and/or diarrhoea should seek advice from their GP before presenting to the hospital’s Emergency Department.
'Cavan General Hospital is appealing to the public for their support in observing these restrictions and would like to acknowledge their ongoing support and co-operation in this matter.'
