'I would be lost without this facility' - says Cavan father of Irish Wheelchair Association
A Cavan Town father of six with limited mobility is urging people to support the Irish Wheelchair Association’s (IWA) annual Angel Campaign, which will take place on Thursday and Friday of this week, November 10-11, to raise much-needed funds for the Association in the county.
Peter Sheridan (62) from John Paul Avenue in Cavan Town attends the IWA facility at Corlurgan Business Park three days a week and really enjoys the activities and meeting his friends there.
While Peter, who has Multiple Sclerosis (MS), is not confined to a wheelchair and can get around with the aid of a walker, he does have to use a wheelchair as the occasion demands.
“I have been attending the Wheelchair Association facilities at Corlurgan for the past two years. I could not live without it and I come here Monday, Thursday and Friday. I can now do things that I was not able to do before. I would be lost without this facility and the team here are very good,” said Peter who is married to Dympna and they have a family of six.
The IWA Cavan Centre provides an Adult Day Service over five days for people such as Peter with limited mobility and wheelchair users.
This year all funds raised through the sales of Angel products will be immediately invested into delivering and maintaining services to IWA members from County Cavan.
This campaign is supported by a team of local volunteers, who are a vital component to the success of the Angel campaign. Angel products includes pins, fun packs for children and car air fresheners, all of which sell for €2 each.
Watch out for sellers on the streets across the county including Aldi stores, as Aldi is one of the Angel Days main sponsors.
