Army diffuse two explosive devices in house in Cavan

Two viable Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were diffused by the Army Bomb Disposal Team at a derelict house in Cavan on Saturday evening, October 22.

The bombs were found at a derelict house in the Aughnaskerry area on the outskirts of Cavan Town by Gardaí.

The Army Bomb Disposal Team were called to the scene at 8.45 pm and an examination of the devices showed them to be two viable igniferous IEDs.

The devices were made safe at the scene and removed to a military location for further examination. The scene was declared safe at 10.40pm.

Following a technical examination of the IEDs the parts will be handed over to the Gardaí for evidential purposes.
