Local faces in latest Louis Berry music vid

The latest musical offering from up-and-coming Liverpudlian crooner Louis Berry is bound to raise a few smiles on a Friday afternoon, not least because of it strong links to the breffni county.

Not only was the video for his latest single 'Restless' filmed by award-winning film producer Finn Keenan, but it was shot locally too, in the Townhall Arts Centre and features dozens of well known local faces.

The video for 'Restless' very much reflects Berry's own rebellious nature, who took his first musical steps while sneaking playing time on his Granddad's forbidden guitar, hidden under the bed.

Doffing a stylistic hat to rock n' roll greats such as Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis, its not the first time Berry, who signed a record deal after playing just two gigs, has worked with Finn.

“The idea for this video came from chatting with Louis about the song. He talked about how simply getting to the door of a certain girl was a struggle without something ruining it,” Finn explained to The Anglo-Celt.

“With the video I wanted to do a surreal take on all the worries and distractions that prevent us from achieving a certain goal. The video is sandwiched in real life but is mostly set in Louis' mind, and gets quite trippy and ridiculous. The idea was very ambitious for the time we had to do it, so I decided to bring it to Cavan where we could beg steal and borrow as much props as possible. But more importantly get incredibly talented set designers, art directors, make-up artists and actors on board.”

Central to the music video is a major riot scene, for which Finn put out the feelers to the general public seeking volunteers to get on board and back the project. He wasn't disappointed and they turned up in their droves, much to Finn's delight as well as Louis' and his label.

“We had to do a riot scene and I couldn't believe the amount of people who turned up for it. We must have had 30 extras in the Town Hall at one point. It really was incredible to think they just came out of the soundness of their own hearts! Louis and his label from the UK were blown away by the sense of community and support. I can't thank everyone who was involved enough. Genuinely overwhelmed.”
