Relegation play-offs confirmed
Cavan county board HAVE been cleared to relegate three teams from the Senior Football Championship following the result of an appeal to Croke Park on Monday night, The Anglo-Celt can reveal.
The Ulster Council originally denied Cavan permission to relegate three teams, as intended as part of a refining of the Senior and Intermediate championships, due to what they ruled was a breach of Rule 3.30J of the Official Guide.
But the board successfully appealed the decision to the GAA’s high-powered Central Appeals Committee at HQ on Monday. The senior relegation play-offs will proceed as soon as possible, it is understood.
However, the CCC of Cavan county board must meet to decide on the format of the intermediate relegation competition, with some clubs insisting that the play-offs should be seeded.
