New apprenticeships launched in CMETB
A new range of traineeships and apprenticeships was launched at a meeting recently between Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) and the Regional Skills Forum for the North East.
The Forum is the new regional body responsible for fostering links between employers and the education and training sector and is part of the Government’s National Skills Strategy.
Speaking after the meeting John Kearney, Education Officer, CMETB, said that it offered the opportunity to present the training supports that the ETB can provide to help economic development and grow employment in the region.
He said it’s very important for the ETB to make employers aware of the range of options available and to stress that the education board can help meet the emerging skills needs of the region.
“Cavan and Monaghan ETB has a long history of employer engagement with both Cavan Institute and Monaghan Institute, having a proven track record of working closely with employers,” Mr Kearney commented.
“This forum will help employers better understand and access the full range of education and training services available within CMETB,” according to the ETB official.
Mr Kearney also confirmed that the CMETB Guidance Team had visited Liberty Insurance to outline the range of training supports available to staff affected by the recent announcement of redundancies at the Cavan based insurance company.
“The ETB engaged with the company as soon as the news broke and then visited the Cavan office to meet with staff affected. All the services of the ETB are available to staff at this difficult time and we are working closely with them and the company to provide whatever support necessary,” he concluded.
