Worrying trend at Liberty Insurance in Cavan – Smyth

A local TD has expressed her dismay at yet another 70 redundancies announced at Liberty Insurance in Cavan and Dublin.

Commenting on the latest shock for Cavan, Deputy Niamh Smyth said, “Our thoughts are with the employees that is affected by today’s announcement. This isn’t the first time that such news has come to this company’s door.

'I have tabled a Parliamentary Question to the Minister for Jobs Mary Mitchell O’Connor to ask her what is she doing for my constituency of Cavan and Monaghan when it comes to job creation. We have a highly skilled workforce in Cavan, going back to thetime of Quinn Insurance. I have to say this latest announcement is another depletion of jobs in Cavan and will come as another shock to the local economy.

The Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan/Monaghan deputy concluded, “I have also asked the Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar directly to ensure that his officials meet with staff personally and to inform them of the best possible package available to them.'
